When you feel like life is a little out of control, you have the power to create a home that is a refuge, somewhere you can unwind. After a stressful day we crave support, comfort and calming energy. My top 5 easy tips are:
1. Hide a couple of natural woven baskets in neutral tones in discreet places (such as beside the lounge or under a side table.) Get into the habit of placing everyday household items that accumulate in the living room. Clutter depletes energy so get it out of sight.
2. Add a citrus candle or two to your coffee table and light as soon as you get home. The bright herbaceous scent will lift the mood and counteract stale air.
3. Soft, natural fabric throws and plump cushions will push the wintry day blues back outside.
4. Soft lamp light from warm LEDs are enough to calm and soothe your tired eyes and mind.
5. Finally, bring the calming effect of nature into your living space with a potted plant or vase of seasonal flowers-the brighter the better. You can’t beat a pop of colour to re-energise your living space.
