I read a recent study that reported individuals performed more creatively in spaces with higher ceilings. To me this means more space correlates with more room for creative flow.
We don’t all have high ceilings but we can do a lot to create space and flow for creative energy.
Decluttering is the first step in creating a space where you want to be! Here are my three top tips to start on your journey to unleash the power of a decluttered space.
1. Consider your room layout and furniture placement
Ask yourself is it clear what function this room has? Is there too much ‘stuff’ in this room?
2. Choose one area in the room at a time- don’t do it all at once, you’ll get overwhelmed. Place items in three piles- ‘to keep’; ‘to donate’; ‘not sure’
To keep: is easy- it’s needed and necessary.
To donate: I don’t need it anymore but someone else might. Don’t leave the bags you’ve filled around- take them to your local op shop.
Not sure: this is an interesting one. Put a date on your ‘not sure’ pile. It can be one week or one month but put a date on it and then it must go in one of the other two piles!
3. Storage solutions
Research storage solutions and select what will work best in your space. Don’t overfill!
